DESCRIPTION

The Business Development Associate will be involved in all aspects of renewable energy power marketing, with the goal of securing off-take agreements and project sales for Ranger’s portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to, drafting marketing materials and sales proposals, contract negotiation, collecting market intelligence, conducting research and managing the team’s databases. This position provides individuals with an opportunity to gain exposure to the sales and project management sides of the renewable energy business.

Candidates do not need to have prior renewable or energy industry experience, but should have some familiarity with the US electric power markets, and a passion for promoting Ranger Power’s mission to increase the proliferation of community-supported renewable power.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sales and Deal Origination: Participate in client engagements by generating customized sales materials, taking detailed notes, and taking the lead on follow ups and action items.
  • Proposal Management: work closely with project developers and subject matter experts to assemble targeted proposals for bilateral discussions and responses to formal requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Deal Team Coordination:  help Department Head manage contract negotiations with clients by coordinating with and supporting members of Ranger deal teams.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: work directly with Department Head on renewable project purchases and divestitures.
  • Competitive Research: identify industry trends and market dynamics, and report findings senior members of the Ranger team.
  • Legislative and Regulatory Research: Stay apprised of significant activities that impact Ranger Power’s development portfolio at the local, state and federal level.
  • New Market Entry: develop understanding of regional utility and corporation energy procurement dynamics and identify potential customers.
  • Sales Administration: Manage client relationship management (CRM) system as well as other team databases used for team coordination, market intelligence and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare Quality Work Product: prepare documents, reports, presentations, and other work products timely and accurately.
  • Reflect Well on Ranger: Always deal with stakeholders, including landowners, government officials, contractors, and clients, in a manner that is ethical, professional, and respectful.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills.
  • Comfort with cold-calling and with engaging potential and existing clients over the phone, through digital meeting rooms, and in-person.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Exposure to renewable industry through academic studies or internships a plus, but not required.
  • Willingness to travel (twice a month on average, for 2-3 days).
  • 3-5 years of prior work experience.
