DESCRIPTION

The Senior Business Development Analyst will be involved in all aspects of renewable energy power marketing and strategy, with the ultimate goal of helping to secure off-take agreements and project sales for Ranger’s portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to, drafting marketing materials and RFP submission packages, assisting with M&A opportunities and contracting opportunities, conducting research and competitor analysis, including market intelligence, managing the team’s databases, and assisting with client relationship management.  This position provides individuals with an opportunity to gain exposure to the sales and project management sides of the renewable energy business. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sales and Deal Origination: Help to source new deals through strategic work and targeted client outreach, and help support deal flow across the department, including contract negotiations. 
  • Proposal Management: Work closely with project developers and other subject matter experts, including pricing team, to assemble targeted proposals to formal Requests for Proposals (“RFPs”) and bilateral discussions.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Evaluate potential renewable project purchases and assist with Ranger project divestitures.
  • Competitive Research: Stay on top of industry news and competitor projects, and identify existing industry trends and market dynamics, and report findings via email reports and regular presentations on core Ranger markets. 
  • Regulatory Work: Track regulatory dockets and issues across Ranger’s portfolio, including Integrated Resource Plans (“IRPs”), rate cases etc., work with industry groups to advance Ranger’s position, and report out on proceedings 
  • Client Management: Help to identify new clients and contacts as necessary and help to manage Ranger’s client databases and client relationships. 
  • Marketing Materials: Prepare company marketing materials for external use, including slide decks, project overviews and other promotional materials.
  • Prepare Quality Work Product: Prepare documents, reports, presentations, and other work products timely and accurately, with appropriate attention to detail. 
  • Reflect Well on Ranger: Always deal with stakeholders, including clients, investors, government officials, contractors, and landowners, in a manner that is ethical, professional, and respectful, in addition to working collaboratively with all members of the internal Ranger team. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality written communication and associated written deliverables through strong editing skills and exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Proven ability to understand, synthesize, and communicate complex topics. 
  • Comfortable engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (clients, investors, other members of the Ranger team) over the phone, through digital meetings, and in-person.
  • Experience with financial modeling.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Occasional travel required (1-2 times a month on average, for 2-3 days).
  • Exposure to renewable industry a plus, but not required.

This is a full-time position located in Chicago, IL. The salary range for this role is 70k – 100k based on experience. This salary range includes several career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on the candidate’s education, experience, and qualifications.
