DESCRIPTION

Ranger Power is seeking an Interconnection Project Coordinator to join its development team. As part of a small and dynamic Interconnection and Transmission team, this role is expected to manage varying responsibilities as projects progress through the interconnection process. The Interconnection Project Coordinator will guide projects through the interconnection process, ensuring all requirements are successfully met for integration of generating facilities into the electrical grid. This role supports the management of the entire interconnection lifecycle, from initial application to late-stage project compliance. This role will also monitor communications with the Transmission and Interconnection Department to ensure requests reach the appropriate point of contact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interconnection Process Support: Support and coordinate interconnection process activities, including application development, submission, and follow-up
  • Monitor Transmission and Interconnection Department Activities: Process requests that are submitted to the department, ensuring they are routed to the appropriate contact and resolved efficiently
  • Project Management: Plan, schedule, and execute interconnection projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
  • Project Finance Coordination: Own internal and external communication regarding the budget for interconnection projects, including tracking of payment due dates and executing on invoices received
  • Stakeholder Communication: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including project developers, utilities, and regulatory bodies
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate and manage contractual agreements with ISOs/RTOs and transmission owners
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the interconnection process

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required  
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in power system engineering, utility planning, interconnection-related projects, or a similar role
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Understanding of the interconnection process, including applicable regulations, tariffs, standards, and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate studies, and make recommendations
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team, and take the initiative to follow up as needed
  • Ethical, professional, and respectful workplace manner

The salary range for this role is 85k – 115k based on experience. This salary range includes several career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on the candidate’s education, experience, and qualifications.

LOCATION

This role is based out of Ranger Power’s headquarters in Chicago, IL. However, remote candidates will also be considered, with a preference for those located in or near New York City, NY; Boston, MA; Indianapolis, IN; or Bloomington, IL.
